About laser

Great for Pets

Laser therapy is also known as low-level laser, cold laser, or soft laser therapy. By any name, it is still a relatively new concept that is being used more recently to treat dogs and various pets with arthritis, tendon or soft tissue injuries and to promote wound healing.

It's Safe

Cold laser therapy is a non-invasive safe procedure that uses light to encourage cell regeneration and increase blood circulation.  Cold laser therapy treats the surface of the skin, and can also penetrate within 2 inches deep into the tissue safely. Treatment for acute and chronic injuries, sprains and strains, arthritis, swelling due to back disc problems, and muscular-skeletal abnormalities is very effective.  It also helps to regenerate nerve tissue after surgery.

I use a 3b Class laser which has a Zero risk of burning.  The one word of Caution is to avoid pointing any laser at the eyes which is why goggles are recommended to wear.

It's Relaxing for Most Pets

Most dogs will find it relaxing as the laser is applied to the area to be treated. Depending on the issues it can take up to 10 to 20 minutes per treatment and at times 30 minutes to an hour.  The good news about laser therapy for dogs is there's no need to shave or clip the area to be treated and the dog doesn't need to be sedated during the process.  That means the treatment can be safely applied multiple times a day or a number of times a week.  Each treatment builds upon the previous which gives that edge of strong healing.

Better Mobility

If you have a dog with arthritis or another type of pain, you can expect to start laser treatment with two to three sessions per week, then decreased sessions based on the healing time.  The amount of sessions is based on the response and condition of the animal.  If the injury or arthritis is more advanced, then more sessions would be needed.

After laser therapy, a dog owner might see their dog go upstairs more often, play with a ball he's not picked up in months or go back to getting on the couch.  And, when dogs have better mobility, medications can often be reduced.

Improve The Quality of Life

Laser therapy won't cause your dog any unwanted side effects.  It's in a Class of its own and is a fantastic Natural means of healing and tissue repair.  Laser therapy can improve the quality of a dog's life as well as the life of the owner, because if your dog is happy, you are happy, too!

Accupuncture

A different strength of laser is used to stimulate acupuncture points and to treat superficial skin issues such as wire cuts and wounds. This method uses the same principal to restore health and well being without using the traditional method of needles.

NOTE: Although Laser therapy can be part or the solution to help ease your pet’s pain, I personally believe that including good Nutrition/weight management helps to achieve complete pain management.  Laser offers one more approach to assist these animals with painful conditions or to reduce the amount of drugs needed to maintain a high quality of life for our pets.
